A delayed or cancelled ferry can affect your pickup vehicle, hotel, return sailing and onward connections. Before requesting any change, identify exactly which parts of your booking need to be adjusted and which should stay as they are.
Sometimes only the return sailing or the details of one passenger need changing. Cancelling an entire booking can be unnecessary if the other services are still usable.
Was it your change or the operator’s?
If you want to travel on another date, write down the new preferred date. If the operator announces a schedule change, first establish whether the departure time, vessel or entire service has changed. The rules for a voluntary amendment, an operator change and a cancellation can differ. Check the notification with the ticket issuer rather than relying on group chats.
Identify the exact sailing
A photograph of a ferry cannot tell you whether your service has been cancelled. Compare the vessel name, travel date, direction and booking reference against the operator or issuer’s latest message before changing other services.

Make a keep/change list
For families or groups, write down the passengers and parts of the journey that must change. A request such as ‘move only the return tickets of these two passengers’ is much clearer than ‘please change my tickets’.
- Passengers: who needs the change and who should remain on the original sailing?
- Ferry tickets: outbound, return or both?
- Alternative: preferred date and any acceptable backup choices?
- Other services: port transfer, island pickup, hotel and onward transport?
Confirm alternatives and costs before agreeing
Look up a possible replacement sailing, then ask the original ticket issuer to check seat availability and the conditions attached to your existing booking. Ask about any service fee, fare difference or expected refund. A sailing shown in a timetable does not guarantee enough seats for your group, and a change is not automatically free.
Send one complete request
Provide your booking reference, passenger names requiring amendment, current sailing and requested change. If names or identity details are incorrect, describe the difference to the verified support team. Never modify a ticket PDF yourself.
Please check booking reference … for passenger(s) … on sailing … dated …. I would like to … while keeping … unchanged. Please confirm whether this is possible, the total amendment cost or refund, and the next steps.
Only send identity documents through a verified support channel when required. Never post ticket QR codes, identity cards, passports or payment details in public comments.
Rearrange transfers and accommodation
After the replacement sailing is confirmed, update pickup vehicles and accommodation. Tell drivers the correct port, date, time and passenger count. If your ferry is still awaiting confirmation, describe the new time as tentative to avoid further amendment fees. Allow a sensible connection buffer.
Check the final result
- New tickets show the correct passenger names, direction, dates, times and seat class.
- Tickets and passengers not included in the request remain unchanged.
- Any cancellation states clearly which services are cancelled and the amount involved.
- For a refund, keep confirmation of the amount, method and expected processing date.
- Drivers and accommodation providers have received the confirmed plan.
A change is complete when the issued tickets and your actual itinerary match. Before travelling again, read the latest notification for the new sailing.
